While you may feel a social obligation to be informed about what's happening in the world, consuming so much negativity can cause you to feel emotionally drained and stressed.

6 Ways to protect your peace
Before diving into these tips, it's important to note that prioritizing your mental health and preserving peace is a process that takes time.
So focus on implementing just a few things at a time as you read through our advice.
1. Set boundaries for social media and the news
Nowadays, information is coming at us from all directions. We get news alerts on our phones; new channels run segments all day, and even podcasts are dedicated to sharing the news.
Because of this overstimulation of information, setting boundaries is crucial to avoid becoming overwhelmed.
Here's how to set your limits:
- Set specific times for checking the news
To prevent you from consuming the news all day, designate specific times to view it. For instance, it may be better to watch the news before you start your day, during your lunch break, or when you get home from work.
- Consume content from trusted outlets only
Fake news is everywhere. To avoid deception, make sure you consume content from reliable sources. This way, you know that the information is factual. There is no use stressing out over information that isn't correct.
- Implement news breaks
You can give yourself a few days without consuming news-related content. Taking a news break can help you focus on other essential aspects of life.
- Unfollow certain accounts
Chances are you don't need to consume the news from every angle. Try unfollowing certain news channels on social media and sticking to one form of consumption. This could mean only watching the evening news or only reading the paper.

Remember, self-care is often marketed as bubble baths, fancy skin care products, spa days, and other luxuries. While material things can make you feel good, self-care can also look like:

Remember, self-care is anything you do that involves taking care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Doing good deeds or random acts of kindness to show your appreciation
